The Custom Date Range feature allows you to maintain a collection of important periods, such as promotions and holidays, and optional comparison dates, without needing to fill in a custom date range every time. This is done by creating a table containing your custom date ranges.

Create a Custom Date Range

To start, you will need to download the Custom Date Range template

1. Open any CIP report and under the Date Filter, select Period Selection By: Custom Date Range

2. Click the link to Download Template. An Excel workbook will be downloaded to your computer

3. Open the workbook in Microsoft Excel and log into your account by selecting the Add-Ins tab > 1010data > 1010data Login

4. Log in using your 1010data user credentials

5. Press Ctrl+Q to populate the table path in the U-sheet and wait for the query to complete

6. Fill in the Custom Date Range template with your desired date ranges

Important: Do not modify Column Names, Column Types, Column Formats, or Column Headings (rows 11-14)

Table Title: Friendly name of the table of date ranges, e.g.: the name of the promotional period. May contain special characters except an ampersand (&)

Table Name: The name of the table, must be all lowercase with no special characters (an underscore _ is allowed)

Short Description (optional): A short description of the table

Permissions (optional): Additional permissions if required. By default, the custom date range table will be visible to all users within your company

Replace or Append? (optional): If overwriting an existing Custom Date Range, select "Replace" to delete replace the entire table, or "Append" to add data to the existing table

Table Data: This is where you can fill in your custom date ranges beginning with the Name of the date range, Current Period Start, Current Period End, Comparison Period Start, and Comparison Period End

Note: Comparison Period Start and Comparison Period End are optional fields if you want to specify a comparison period for your date ranges

Note: Select the _1010u Sample Date Range worksheet in order to see an example of a completed template

7. When you are satisfied with the data you have entered, with the Add-Ins tab selected, select 1010data > Upload Data > Upload Active U-Sheet

A successful upload status will be shown in cell 9B

Use a Custom Date Range

With your Custom Date Range table created, you can now use it in any CIP report

1. Open the desired CIP report using CIP Report Launcher

2. In the Date Filter, select Period Selection By: Custom Date Range

Note: The selected Calendar does not matter

3. Under Table: Select the name of the table ("Table Name" from step 6 above), and Date Range: Select the name of the desired date range

You can select Include Comparison Period if you wish to include the comparison period specified in your Custom Date Range

Your chosen dates should now show in the date filter and in the top panel under Analysis Dates
